Presidents Message:

According to Julie Chin this morning, it looks like Saturdays weather is going to be perfect for a chili dinner.  I'm looking forward to having everyone over, the heater passed a test drive last Sunday so the shop will be nice and toasty, now if I could just find some folks to push brooms and mops. (kidding, I got it handled)

I have several chairs and stools but if you drive something other than your Vette you might throw in a couple of lawn chairs just in case. Bill Bailey is bringing a couple of items to be offered as door prizes so bring some cash.

(Manning, we do not take credit cards!) If you have a Corvette item you don't want, use or need, consider donating it to the club for a door prize.

A special thanks to Tom for all the effort he's put into our new computer/timing system, after seeing him work through some of the challenges last Sun. I can only imagine how much time he has invested in the purchase and set up of all of this new equipment.  We were missing a couple of items but they have been ordered and should be here this week.  THANKS!!!!!!

                                                                SEE YOU SATURDAY

BRING YOUR APPETITES (TUMS NOT PROVIDED)

                                       REMEMBER, GUESTS ARE INVITED!!!!!!!

                                                                        J.B.

From the Governors Corner:

My goodness, how time flies, here it is almost February. Not much to report on NCCC this month but Mike has been busy setting up social events. Be sure and check out everything he has put together.

The regional schedule is available on our website as well as the SW Region website.

The raffle car for convention this year has been picked out, a 2009 coupe, charcoal in color, in case you want to purchase some raffle tickets.

Reminder: the deadline for signing up for the SW Region awards dinner and party in Waco is coming up soon in case you want to go.

We had our first setup/practice with our new timing equip and found that we needed a few more parts to make the system work together. By the next meeting Feb 1st we should have everything in place. Please, if you are interested in learning about the new timing stuff plan on attending. The meeting is at Jim Barnes at 1PM, word has it a super bowl party may break out afterward.

You know, I kept wondering why Linda B was using such large font for my article, Duh! I just noticed that my font settings were (shall we say a little high) SORRY!

Tom

Minutes of the Previous Meeting:

The meeting was called to order by President Jim Barnes at 7:30 PM.

Jim reported that he had presented outgoing President, Kevin Gross with an inscribed gavel as a memento for his service to the club. Year end awards were then passed out. Kurt Lewis made a special presentation to Dale Acker in recognition of his dedication and hard work during the 2008 National Convention which was held in Tulsa.

Terry Green told of the National Corvette Museum 2009 Caravan.

On September 1st anyone interested in participating will come together

With existing caravan participants and tour to Checotah then proceed

to Little Rock and spend the night there. Parties and food are

scheduled at a Chevrolet dealership there. Cost for this segment of

the Caravan is $25.00 and includes a T-shirt. The group will then go on to Bowling Green the next day. Go to the National Corvette Museum website for further details and updates.

Jim asked for a motion to approve Novembers minutes as printed in the newsletter. Dale Acker made a correction on page 3, paragraph 2. It is corrected to read Dale Acker will be the Operational Chairman. Dale Acker then made the motion to approve. Linda Lewis seconded. Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

Corvette Trivia:

Which of the following features of the 1963 Stringray production car were simulated?

  1. Hold louvers

  2. Knock-offs on the hubcaps

  3. Fender vents

  4. Bi-pillar air extraction vents

  5. All the above

All the above. For some reason, it was easier to simulate scoops and vents than make them functional, perhaps because making them functional, would require additional time. Gradually, as the years went by, there was less simulation and more functional styling features as the Stingray design was refined.
